Ultimate Survival

Consider the words of Jesus in the New Testament: “”And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides.” (Luke 21:25) It seems like every time we turn on the TV or listen to the radio, there is something strange seen in the skies, such as the birds falling to the earth in the beginning months of 2012! Reports of solar flare activity are constant and it’s only a matter of time before a coronal mass ejection hits the earth, causing significant damage to our communications systems and other technologies. The moon appears to many to have changed and maybe even looks closer or oddly shaped. Reports of near earth objects and dangers from space are a regular feature of the news. And that’s just what is going on in space and the earth’s atmosphere! Notice what Jesus says next about the nations being in turmoil and the seas and strange tides. Today, Hurricane Sandy began its beat down of the U.S. east coast. Earthquakes have triggered tsunami warnings in the last few days. Do these signal the end of the age (notice I didn’t say end of the world; in the Judeo-Christian tradition, it’s the end of the present age to be followed by a new one)? You be the judge!
